A secure digital legacy vault
Messages, letters, photos, and documents for the people who matter most—delivered only when you're gone.
Four steps
Create your vault
Sign up and choose your encryption level. Your vault is yours alone.
Add items
Write messages, upload photos, attach documents. Anything you want someone to have.
Set recipients
Choose who receives each item. A letter for your daughter, photos for an old friend, documents for your partner.
Check in periodically
A simple “I’m still here” button. Miss it, and after a grace period, your vault is delivered.
Three encryption modes
Every vault has an encryption mode chosen at creation. Once items exist, the mode is locked.
No encryption
Content stored as-is. Simplest option—suitable if your items aren't sensitive.
Server-side encryption
Content encrypted at rest with a server-held key. Protects against raw database access, but the server can technically decrypt.
End-to-end envelope encryption
A vault key is generated in your browser and never leaves it. Each recipient gets their own key, wrapped with the vault key. The server only stores ciphertext—it cannot read your items. A recovery key lets you restore access on a new device.
Dead-man's switch + human verification
Your vault has a check-in interval (default: 30 days). Miss a check-in and a grace period begins. If the grace period expires without a check-in, delivery is triggered.
You can also designate trusted verifiers—people who can confirm your passing and trigger delivery immediately, bypassing the timer. This adds a human layer to the automated process.
Built on Cloudflare
ILTFY runs on Cloudflare Workers with D1 (SQLite) for structured data and R2 for media files. There is no centralized cloud provider reselling your data. Compute and storage are distributed globally, close to where you are.
Authentication is handled by Clerk. No analytics. No ad networks. No tracking pixels.
Why this exists
We spend our lives accumulating things to say and assuming we'll have time to say them. ILTFY is the space between that assumption and reality.
This isn't a social network. There are no feeds, no followers, no engagement metrics. It's a quiet place to prepare for the inevitable with dignity—and to make sure the people you love aren't left wondering.
